Barbara "Cookie" Jackson

October 20, 1946 — January 25, 2010

On the 25th day of January, 2010, Barbara 'Cookie' Chavis Jackson, age 63 of Aiken, S.C., took the hand of Christ as she began her eternal life in Heaven. She was the beloved wife of Rev. Glenn Jackson and daughter of Bazil Chavis and Thelma Jackson Chavis. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Dawn Jackson of Aiken; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy Jackson Dockins and Hugh Dockins of Warrenville; brothers, Terry Chavis of Guyton, Ga., Steve Chavis and his wife, Vonnie of Winter Park, Florida; sisters, Mollie Chavis of Guyton, Ga., Mary Ann Chavis Herron and her husband, Lloyd of Aiken and grandchildren, Clint Jackson, Laurna Jackson, Blakely Dockins, Noah Dockins and a number of nieces and nephews. She was born in Neeses, S.C. but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She was a member of Aiken Congregational Holiness Church. She was also a member of the Lions' Club. She was a loving wife, caring Christian mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched along the way, but Heaven is sweeter with 'Cookie' Jackson there. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Evans, Rev. Greg Roberts, Rev. Jeffrey Taylor and Rev. Bruce Fox officiating. The interment will follow at New Beginning Church Cemetery in Aiken, S.C. The pallbearers will be Martin Herron, Clay Brown, John Paul Hyche, Paul Hawkins, Nick Hutto and Clint Jackson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials, in Mrs. Jackson's honor, may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 35A Varden Drive, Aiken, S. C. 29803 or to the Kidney Foundation of S.C., 5000 Thurmond Mall, Columbia, S.C. 29201. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, S.C. is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
