Cecil Redd

August 25, 1927 — November 27, 2022

Vaucluse, SC

Mr. Cecil Redd, age 95, entered into rest on Sunday November 27, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his immediate family.

He is survived by his children Alan Redd, Susan (Don) Clay, grandchildren Evan (Michelle) Redd, Lindsay Redd, Heather (Eric) Edwards and five great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Annie Ruth Redd, parents Dollie and Minervie Redd, sisters Earline Wood, Minerva McSwain, brother SFC Garvis Redd, daughter-in-law Linda Redd and grandson James Richard Bartley.

Cecil was a devout Christian who walked in faith with Jesus throughout his life.  Known for his strength, exceptional ability and amazing memory, he was humble, hardworking, trustworthy and loyal.                                                                         

A quiet man of great wisdom with a pure heart and strong character, he was dedicated to family and friends speaking ill of none.  A significant soul radiating the joy and peace of his deep faith.  A dedicated family man who loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, teaching all he knew.  A gifted athlete and avid sportsman who loved the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing with his family.  A talented craftsman teaching and helping all who asked, he especially loved working in the church. An unparalleled authority on baseball who readily shared his knowledge and enjoyed coaching.

Cecil was a strong and courageous man who served in the US Navy during WWII Pacific Theatre.

He retired as a carpenter from the Maintenance Division of Graniteville Company.

 

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Traditions Hospice.

 

A funeral service honoring his life and legacy will be held  at 2:00 PM Friday December 2, 2022 First Baptist Church Vaucluse with Monsignor Richard D. Harris and Pastor Sean Fulton officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Vaucluse Cemetery.  Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the church.

 

Pallbearers will be: Evan Redd, Andy Redd, Richard Johnson, Donald Clay, Don Watkins, Auren Mitchell and Buddy Redd.
