Mr. Charlie Franklin Goodwin, Jr, age 99, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 10, 2024.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Davis Goodwin; son, Charles Edward "Chuck" Goodwin; stepchildren, Vicki (Glen) Fulmer, Lori Brown; sister, Katherine (Danny) Overstreet; grandchildren, Casey (Ashley) Barton, Nicole Goodwin, Macy Goodwin; and two great-grandchildren, Silas and Sutton Barton.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Beona Goodwin; parents, Charles Franklin, Sr. and Hattie Mae Goodwin; daughter, Diane Gunter; son, Joe Ernest Goodwin; brothers, Wade and Henry Goodwin; and sister, Emma Jacobs.
Mr. Goodwin was a devout Christian and a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Aiken where he previously served as a Deacon and Brotherhood Director. He was employed by Graniteville Company at Gregg Division for 40 years as a department supervisor. Mr. Goodwin proudly served his country in the United States Army and fought in World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 0077 in Graniteville for 76 years. He will be deeply missed by his family and all whose lives he touched with his kindness.
A funeral service honoring his life and legacy will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 3 PM in the chapel of Napier Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. John Reeder officiating. The interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 0077 Graniteville.
