Elvin O. "Buck" Brooks

BROOKS-Entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, Mr. Elvin O. “Buck” Brooks, age 82 of Graniteville, S. C., beloved husband of Mildred “Boot” Brewer Brooks and son of the late Annie Brooks New. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, James Elvin Brooks, Rudy Odell Brooks and his wife, Claire all of North Augusta, S. C.; grandchildren, Heather Brooks, Amanda Brooks, Nichole Brooks Wetzel and her husband, Aaron, Christopher Brooks and his wife, Brandy; three great grandchildren, Marissa Wetzel, Megan Wetzel and Alex Brooks. He was born in Pelion, S.C. but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S. C. He retired from Graniteville Company after 46 years of service. After retiring from Graniteville Company, he served as a greeter with Walmart in North Augusta for several years. He also, helped out, when needed, at Napier Funeral Home. Up until his illness, he was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Graniteville and was also a faithful choir member. “Buck” as he was so fondly known by his family and many friends was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a friendly and loving person who always had a smile for everyone he met. Needless to say, he shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched; but life for “Buck” has not ended, but only begun in a better land with no more pain or sorrow. Yes, Heaven is sweeter with “Buck” there. A graveside service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Graniteville Cemetery with Rev. James Young and Speaker Cheri Hicks, with Regency Hospice, officiating. The pallbearers will be Ray Johnson, Dennis Padgett, Keith Herrington, Jack Herrington, Glenn Duffer and Jeffrey Duffer. Charles Hinton and Larry Duffer will serve as Honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight, Thursday, May 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Cemetery on Friday by 10:45 AM. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street, Graniteville, S.C. is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
