Mrs. Emily Smith Hatfield, age 81, beloved wife of 59 years to Carl Lloyd Hatfield, entered peacefully into rest on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at her home in Graniteville, SC.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Michael (Cindy) Hatfield, Miriam (Danny) Burton; grandchildren, Graham Hatfield, Margaret Hatfield, Gracie (Clint) Jackson, Nathan (Erin) Burton, Elijah (Jaden) Burton, Abigail Burton, Grayson Gore, Colten (Tianni) Alter; great-granddaughters, Melody Grace Jackson, Lila Alter; sister, Sara (Bill) Payne
She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Gladys Sharpe Smith; sisters, Margaret Balch, Llewellyn Shivers.
Mrs. Hatfield was a member of Hillview Baptist Church in Graniteville but formally served as the keyboardist and pianist for Johnston First Baptist and Ward Baptist Church. She was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class of Johnston First Baptist. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11am in the chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Pastor Mike McAlpin officiating. The committal service will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Cemetery in Johnston with Pastor Tommy Barwick officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Graham Hatfield, Nathan Burton, Elijah Burton, Erik Tuten, Grayson Gore, and Colten Alter. Larry Shealy will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
