Ethel Johnson Hatcher

December 31, 1969 — July 25, 2016

HATCHER-Ethel Johnson Hatcher, age 81, of Graniteville, S.C., wife of the late Joseph S. Hatcher and daughter of the late Ernest Johnson, Sr. and the late Cloutezze Friday Johnson, entered into rest on Monday, July 25th, 2016. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles F. “Ricky” Hatcher Sr. and his wife, Martha Hatcher of North Augusta, S.C.; grandchildren, Erica H. (Scott) Eubanks, Charles F. (Melissa) Hatcher, Jr. and Andrea E. Hatcher; great grandchildren, Brycen, Landon and Adalyn Williamson, Caroline Eubanks, Andrew Eubanks, Nora Hatcher and Ivy Hatcher; sisters, Evelyn Napier of Warrenville, S.C. and Mary (Bill) Youngblood of Couchton, S.C. and her pet dog, Molly. She was born in Augusta, Ga., but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. She was a proud Military wife. She was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Graniteville and there, she was also a leader in the Youth Ministry Program. She was a member of the Graniteville Leisure Club, the Graniteville Historical Society and a Poll Volunteer. She was also very active in keeping up with her High School Class of 1953. Her family stated that she was an avid card sender. She was a devoted and loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. All of her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. She shall be greatly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched during the 81 precious years that God granted her on this earth. Death is not the end, and she shall live on forever in the hearts of her loved ones. A service, celebrating her life, will be held at St. James Lutheran Church on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Barry T. Antley officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The Pallbearers will be Richard Johnson, Mel Youngblood, Bruce Johnson, James Napier, Charles Hatcher, Jr. and Bob Hatcher. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Brycen Williamson and Landon Williamson and her nephews. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday evening, July 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials, in her honor, may be made to St. James Lutheran Church National Youth Gathering Fund, 122 Laurel Dr., Graniteville, S.C. 29829.
