Gerald L. "Butch" Derr,Jr.

December 31, 1969 — August 5, 2015

Derr -Mr. Gerald L. “Butch” Derr, Jr., age 58, of Beech Island, S.C., loving husband for 37 wonderful years to Anita “Marie” Womer Derr and son of Gerald L. Derr, Sr. and the late Gayla Mayes Derr, went to be with his Lord and Savior at his residence, with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by daughters, Jennifer (Keith) Bartley of Beech Island, S.C. and Joanna (Ebelio) Perez of New York City; sisters, Teresa (Scott) Warren of Pennsylvania, Denise Derr Prince of Alabama and Denita (Cleveland) Creech of North Carolina; brothers, David (Sally) Derr of Florida and Rev. Marc (Dawn) Derr, Sr. of Wisconsin and grandchildren, Damian, Christian, Natalee, Noory, Aleksandr and Isabel. He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald L. Derr, III. He was born in Augsburg, Germany and has been a resident of Aiken County since 1985. He was a Fabricator Welder for TTX Hamburg SRD. He was a proud US Navy Veteran having served on the USS Tunny. He was a member of the Harley-Davidson Owners Group, and his family stated that he loved to ride the Great Smokies. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with all of his heart. A devoted family man of his caliber shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during his short lifespan. Life for him has not ended. He has just made that great transition to his new Heavenly home. He has finished life’s journey and is now at peace with his maker, in a land of endless tomorrows, where the soul shall never die and there will be no more sad goodbyes. He is now up in Heaven with his mother and son. His wife stated that he would be waiting for her with open arms when her time came to join him. A memorial service will be held at Faith Holiness Church of Clearwater, S.C. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 4:00 PM with Speaker Johnny Ganus officiating. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials, in his honor, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
