Glenn David Ergle

September 11, 1949 — March 5, 2017

ERGLE-Glenn David Ergle, age 67, of Aiken, S.C., loving husband to Peggie Shealy Ergle for 47 years and son of the late David and Ruby Cushman Ergle, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2017. When he and Peggie got married in 1969, he became an instant father, role model and mentor to her four children. He was an employee of Graniteville Co. (later Avondale Mills) for 39 ½ years. While at Graniteville Co., he was named Citizen of the Year. He was a former member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and a current member of Shiloh Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children; Ronnie (Cindy) Shealy, Connie (Allen) Morris, Michael (Mitzi) Shealy, Brenda (Mark) Fox; grandchildren, Curtis, Aaron and Adam Morris, Jason and Brent Shealy, Colt and Skylar Fox, Sarah Rebecca Shealy and Sydney Shealy; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Rebecca (Leo) DuBose of Monetta, S.C. and a brother, Richard (Janice) Ergle of Saluda, S.C. He was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Shores and a grandson, Ian Shealy. Glenn loved new cars and tractors. He really enjoyed taking trips to the mountains. He was a good and faithful servant who was welcomed to his Heavenly Home and into the arms of his Heavenly Father by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A service, paying tribute to his life and celebrating his homegoing, will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Chris Masters and Rev. Marion Britton officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, S.C. The Pallbearers will be his Grandsons. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Julian Bell, Charles Hatcher, Stan Rodgers, Ben Franklin, Buddy Baynham, Martin Roberson, Steve Ergle and Vernon Carter. The family would like to extend a “Heartfelt Thank You” to all who took such good care of Glenn during his illness. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Tuesday evening, March 7th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 3925 Shiloh Church Rd., Aiken, S.C. 29805 or to a charity of one’s choice.
