Henry C., "Sonny" New

NEW-Henry C. “Sonny” New, age 82, of Graniteville, S.C., loving companion for 40 years to the late Alma Isenberg and son of the late Henry Preston New and the late Lila Renew New, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 11, 2015. He is survived by a daughter, Betty Sarka of Warrenville, S.C.; a sister, Janice N. Abney; a brother, Richard Tyrone New and a nephew, Jody P. (Suzanne) Abney all of Graniteville, S.C; grandson, Jay Craig; great nieces and nephews, Katie and Hannah, David and Daniel; stepchildren, Tootsie, Lois, Dan and Ellen. He was born in and was a lifetime resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Graniteville. He was a member of the Graniteville Historical Society. He was a US Navy Veteran. He was a retired Cloth Room Supervisor with the Gregg Division of Graniteville Company. A job, which yielded him many friends, was that of selling fireworks to celebrate all the holidays for over 62 years. He was a loving, caring father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. A man of his caliber shall be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched during the 82 years that God granted him on this earth. Death is not the end as he has just made that great transition to a land of endless tomorrows, where the soul will never die, and there will never be no more sad goodbyes. Earth’s loss is truly Heaven’s gain. A service, celebrating his life, will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Doug Puckett officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow the service at the Graniteville Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Jay Craig, Johnny Hodson, Ronnie Young, Phil Napier, Will New and James “Bo” New.
