Joan Arledge Rikard, 90 of North Augusta, SC passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Joan was born in Tryon, NC to the late Robert Ernest and Julia Arledge of Tryon. She was a graduate of Tryon High School and also a graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. She earned her BSN in Nursing from the General Hospital School of Nursing in Spartanburg. After graduating, she moved to North Augusta and worked at Savannah River Plant. This is where she met her husband, James Rikard who preceded her in death in 2003. They were married for 46 years and enjoyed traveling and spending time with the grandchildren. Joan was a Member of the Red Hat Club and a lifetime member of Fairview Presbyterian Church. Joan loved animals, spending time reading an enjoyable book, doing crossword puzzles and going to the beach and the mountains. She was a wonderful mother, and she loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Cheshire and her husband Mike of Beaufort, SC; grandchildren, Michael Cheshire Jr. and his wife Lori of Cumming, GA, Melissa C. Kincaid and her husband Allen of Summerville, SC and Tyler Cheshire and his fiancé Olivia of Leonardtown, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Rikard Kincaid, Greyson Kincaid, Hattie Cheshire and Jordan Cheshire.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Pine View Memorial Gardens in North Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice, 329 Friends Lane, Ridgeland, SC. 29936.
