Juanita Thomas Taylor

December 31, 1969 — February 1, 2019

On May 18, 2018, Juanita Thomas Taylor journeyed to her new heavenly home where all is joy and peace in a land of endless tomorrows. She was the beloved daughter of Fannie Bianca Graham Thomas and Eugene C. Thomas. She is survived by one daughter, Lisa. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Leisure Years Club.

She was known for her creativity and was an exceptional artist in a variety of media. She very much enjoyed making original décor for her daughter’s classrooms. Her talents extended to writing poetry, making wreaths, and baking and decorating cakes.

She loved all holidays, but Christmas was her favorite. While employed at Graniteville Company, she designed numerous award-winning Christmas floats. One of her greatest joys was decorating Christmas trees. She decorated nine full size trees at the home of her daughter each year. Some were featured in an Aiken Standard article entitled “Tree-mendous” (Sunday, December 22, 2002).

Other interests included collecting antiques, cooking, reading, gardening, and rescuing animals. She enjoyed antiquing locally and in Abbeville, Charleston, Savannah, and Chimney Rock where she searched for cobalt glass, old kitchen items, farm tools, primitives and nativities. She was a phenomenal cook and often hosted parties for large groups of people. Her favorite author was Jane Austen and she also enjoyed reading about Abraham Lincoln. Gardening was a favorite pastime. She employed the same gardener for over thirty years. Her heart was always open for any animal that needed a home. A private service was held at Folly Beach (a favorite location of her youth), where the beauty and serenity of the infinite ocean could attest to the beauty and serenity with which she lived her life. An angel bench in her honor will be placed at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, SC. If so desired, memorials may be made to the animal charity of your choice.

Napier Funeral Home, Inc. 315 Main St. Graniteville, SC 29829, has been entrusted with these arrangements. To send an expression of sympathy, you may visit the guestbook at www.napierfuneralhomeinc.com
