June Carolyn Cook

June Carolyn Cook, 91, of Aiken, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023, at AU Hospital in Augusta, Ga. with her family at her bedside. She was born on March 26, 1932, to the late John Croxton Couch and Emma Mae Hinson Couch in Fort Mill, SC. She attended Fort Mill public schools. June married Robert William Cook in 1951. During her lifetime she was a full-time homemaker, hair salon owner/operator, food service employee for Glen Hills High School, and a school bus driver for Richmond County until she retired. Her life revolved around her family and church. She and her husband took many mission trips to help those in need. There was not any place they would not go when called upon by the Lord to serve, building churches, hospitals, orphanages, and schools. She was also a Mom to many in the Foster Care Program at Augusta DFAC services.

She is survived by her children: Mike Cook, Jon (Carolyn) Cook, Fred (Starla) Cook. Her grandchildren: Rob (Sarah) Cook, Jared (Amanda) Cook, Adrienne Cook, Derek (Amy) Cook, Erica (Chad) Harpel, Jason Cook, Heath (Hope) Mullins, Gregory (Hope) Mullins, Heather Mullins and 14 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Joyce Osborne, her Godwink siblings Vonnie Giles, Sonny McKinney, and her sister-in-law - Wanda Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert William Cook, her brother Jake Couch, her Godwink parents B.F.(Jack) and Bessie McKinney, her
Godwink siblings Don (Elma) McKinney, Violet (Howard) Alred, Donald Giles, and brother-in-law David Osborne. (Godwinks are messages from God that you are not alone.)

Family will receive friends at Mercy Church, 2700 Whiskey Road, Aiken, SC on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm with the Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Storehouse of Mercy, Mercy Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Benton House for their excellent care and for the many friends she made while residing there.
