Lucius "Luke" Delton Hand, Sr.

December 31, 1969 — September 5, 2015

HAND-Lucius “Luke” Delton Hand, Sr., age 77, of Graniteville, S.C., husband of the late Sandra LeRoy Hand and son of the late Ira J. Hand, Sr. and the late Rhodie Bell Johns Hand, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 5, 2015. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle D. and Larson Boatwright, Jr.; sons and daughter-in-law, Rev. Delton Hand, Jr. and Melody M. Hand, Electrician’s Mate First Class (Submarines) Christopher D. Hand; a sister, Earldine Parrish; brothers, Rev. Marcus Hand, Thomas Edsel (Dee) Hand; seven grandchildren, Rev. Kevin G. Hand. Whitney F. Johnson, Victoria H. Walls, Lauren V. Hand, Madison G. Hand, Larson D. “Trey” Boatwright, III and Justin A. Hand; two great grandchildren, Karson L. Hand and Luke A. Johnson. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin LeRoy Hand and brothers, Rufus Hand and Ira J. Hand, Jr. He was born in Bulloch County, Ga. but has been a resident of Aiken County for most of his life. He was a dedicated member of Langley Church of God in Langley, S.C. He graduated from USC Aiken with Associates of Science; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science Secondary Math Degrees. He touched many lives through his great ability to teach. He loved his students, and they in turn loved him. During his working years, he worked at Graniteville Co. for 22 years, retired from Dept. of Corrections, worked at Aiken County School District, Aiken Technical College and Edgefield County Public Schools. He held the rank of E-5 with the S.C. National Guard. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend who loved his family and his God with all his heart. A man of his intelligence and caliber shall be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched during the 77 years that God granted him on this earth. Death cannot destroy all of those precious memories and “Luke” Hand shall live on forever and ever in the hearts of his family and loved ones. He has finished life’s journey and is now at peace with his Maker, the Lord Jesus Christ. He has made that transition to his new Heavenly home in a land of endless tomorrows, where the soul will never die, and we never have to say goodbye. The family will receive friends at Langley Church of God this Tuesday afternoon, September 8th from 1:00 until 2:45 PM. A service, celebrating his life and homegoing, will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM with Rev. Benny Burton, Rev. Marcus Hand, Rev. Kevin Hand, Rev. Delton Hand and Christopher Hand officiating. The interment will follow at the Historical Graniteville Cemetery in Graniteville, S.C. Memorials, in his honor, may be made to Langley Church of God, 2444 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, S.C. 29829.
