Phillip L Barton

February 2, 1955 — October 3, 2017

AIKEN, S.C.-Mr. Phillip L. Barton, age 62, husband for 38 wonderful years to Mary McGee Barton, and son of the late James E. Barton, Sr. and the late Dorothy Bonnett Barton, entered into eternal rest at his residence on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Todd (Rhonda) Muszall and Robbie (Carolyn) Muszall both of Aiken, S.C.; brothers, Ronald (Linda) Barton of Gloverville, S.C., Michael (Sherry) Barton of Warrenville, S.C., Robert (Aimee) Barton of North Augusta, S.C. and Larry (Tracey) Barton of Graniteville, S.C.; a sister, Gail (Robbie) Leopard of Graniteville, S.C.; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, James "Bubba" Barton. He was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a member of Highland Pines Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He shall be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched during the 62 years that God granted him on this earth. Death is not the end, as he has just made that great transition to his new Heavenly home where all is peace and joy in a land where the soul shall never die, and we’ll never have to say goodbye. Earth’s loss is truly Heaven’s gain. A service, celebrating his life, will be held at Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Greene and Rev. Stephen Phillips officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The Pallbearers will be Walter “Scrapper” Craig, Alex “Bubba” Baker, Ted Groomes, Rodney McDaniels, Johnny McGee and C. J. Barton. The men of Highland Pines Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Christian Heritage Church this Friday evening, October 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society,128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210. Napier Funeral Home 315 Main Street. Graniteville SC, 29829 is in charge of all arrangements.
