Richard M. Barton

BARTON-Richard M. Barton, age 75, of Aiken, S.C., loving husband for 49 years to Patricia “Pat” Parrott Barton and son of the late Marvin E. Barton and the late Kathleen Woodward Barton, entered into eternal rest, with his family by his side on Monday, December 19, 2016. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Stacey Barton; a son, Wesley (Lynda) Barton; grandchildren, Natalie, Kyle and Cassidy Barton; sisters, Carolyn B. (Tommy) Brantley; Teena B.(Tommy) Muszall; a brother, Rusty (Teresa) Barton; sister-in-laws, Linda Mock and Jeanie (Ken) Cole; a brother-in-law, Ben (Joan) Parrott; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was an active member of Graniteville First Baptist Church, having served as a Trustee for many years, and he was over the sound/audio system. He was a US Navy Veteran. He was the Co-Owner/Operator of BCC, Inc. The family stated that he was just a “Jack of all trades,” an avid outdoorsman and loved woodworking. He loved his family and friends unconditionally, and they in turn loved him. A man of his caliber shall be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched during the 75 years that God granted him on this earth. Death for Richard is not the end, as he has just made that great transition to his new Heavenly home with no more sickness, and all is joy and peace in a land of endless tomorrows. A service, celebrating his life will be held at the Graniteville First Baptist Church on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Todd Sessions, Rev. Rod Elliott and Todd Brantley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Lee and Buddy Friday, Charles Hilton, Larry Harris, Ken Harris, Robbie Smith, Dale Sharp and Keith Barton. Chandler and Justin Sharp will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Graniteville First Baptist Church, 76 Canal St., Graniteville, S.C. 29829 or to Cancer Care Institute of Carolina, 111 Miracle Dr., Aiken, S.C. 29801. The family will also receive friends at the home of Linda Mock. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street Graniteville SC, 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
