Samuel B. "Sam" Hatfield

December 31, 1969 — July 20, 2015

HATFIELD-Samuel B. “Sam” Hatfield, age 98, of Aiken, S.C. husband for 57 years to the late Mozelle Keel Hatfield and son of the late Samuel B. Hatfield, Sr. and the late Hattie Baker Hatfield, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 20, 2015. He is survived by a son, James S. “Jimmy” Hatfield of Midland, Ga. and a daughter, Hope H. Moore of Littleton, Colorado; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and his very best friend, Evelyn Finnegan of Aiken, S.C. He was born in Casset, S.C. but had been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. Sam Hatfield was a chartered and oldest member of Memorial Baptist
Church in Aiken, where he had served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a “Lifetime” member of the Aiken Masonic Lodge # 156 for 30 years. His career included: Manager of Eden Food Stores, Aiken, Salesman for Sunshine Company (now Keebler) for 19 years, Palace Market, Aiken, Coastal Institutional Food Co. of Walterboro, S.C. and retired from Caughman Meat Co. of Lexington, S. C. He shall be greatly missed by his family, many friends and all whose lives he touched during the 98 years that God granted him on this earth. Death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his friends and loved ones. Sam Hatfield had a wonderful and winning personality, and to know him was to love him. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, July 24th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. A service, celebrating his life, will be held at Memorial Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Charles Jenkins and Rev. Steve Gillett officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville. The family wishes to extend their “Heartfelt Thanks” to his caregivers; members of Regency Hospice, Lorena Jackson, Tammy Mitchell and “Little Miss Sunshine”, Gail Green.
