Shirley Smith Jones

JONES-Mrs. Shirley Smith Jones, age 77, of Augusta, Ga., loving wife of David Harvey Jones and daughter of the late Robert Gordon Smith and the late Louise Taylor Smith, entered into rest at her residence on Monday, May 16, 2016. In addition to her husband, David, she is survived by brothers Buddy (Vicki) Smith of Aiken, S.C. and Rob F. Smith of Beech Island, S.C. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Terrell. She was of the Methodist Faith. She was a retired dedicated Health Care Technician having worked with the mentally retarded at Gracewood Hospital. She enjoyed traveling very much. She also admired pretty flowers. Her husband stated that together they created a happy home. She shall be greatly missed by her husband, her family and all whose lives she touched during the 77 years that God granted her on this earth. Death cannot destroy precious memories, and she shall live on forever in the hearts of her loved ones. “To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord”. Earth’s loss is truly Heaven’s gain. A service, celebrating her life and home going, will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Clint D. Jackson officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend a “Heartfelt Thank you” to Southeast Hospice for the wonderful care that they gave to their loved one during her illness.
