Mrs. Susan Johnson Helvey, age 72, beloved wife of 42 years to Mr. David Helvey, entered into rest on Sunday May 26, 2024.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Gretchen Marie (Tod) Sawyer, William Everette (Becky) Helvey; grandchildren, Jenna Sawyer, Katie Sawyer, Isabell Sawyer, Jinnie Sawyer, Brianna Sawyer, Sarah Sawyer; and sisters, Delene Fogle and Deborah (Mark) Walker.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Everette and Isaqueenia Johnson; granddaughter, Ashlyn Sawyer; brother, James Johnson, Jr.; and sisters, Linda Knight and Elaine Prather.

Mrs. Helvey was a member of Victory Baptist Church in North Augusta, SC. She was strong in her faith and shared His love to many through her hospitality and generosity. Her Sunday dinners were an open door to all. She deeply loved her grandchildren and spent a lot of time with them having sleepovers. She was the true definition of a loving grandmother. One of her favorite hobbies was doing puzzles. Mrs. Helvey will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

A homegoing service honoring her life and legacy will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at 11am in the chapel of Napier Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Keith Bartlett officiating. The interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
