Mrs. Thelma G. Hilton, 97, of Aiken, SC, beloved wife for forty years of the late Jerry Reuben Hilton, entered into rest at Shadow Oaks Assisted Living, under the kind and compassionate care of Hospice of S. C. on March 23, 2023. The family personally thanks her niece, Mrs. Jill (Jerry) Gilpin (Waynesboro, Ga) for all the care and support she gave over the past 2 years.
Mrs. Hilton was a daughter of Clyde L. and Vera Johnson Garvin and a 1942 graduate of Windsor, SC High School. She then moved to Langley, SC to live with an aunt so she could commute to Business School in Augusta, GA. After completing business school, she became a resident of Graniteville, SC for most of her life, working for Graniteville Company and then the Aiken County School District. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Graniteville until her health no longer permitted her attendance.
In addition to her husband and parents, family members include her children, J. Wayne Hilton and Charles and Bobbie Hilton, grandchild Rachel Hilton Roberts and her husband Jeremy, and great-grandchildren, Lorelai, Carrington, and Creighton, a sister, the late Helen G. Wise, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, March 25, 2023, beginning at 2:00 PM at Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 o'clock in the chapel. Rev. Todd Sessions and Rev. Milford Oswald will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 2648 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Graniteville, SC 29829.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Roberts, Jerry Gilpin, Len Wise, Bobby Wilson, Chris Wise, Carl Durden, and Larry Harris.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to the: Graniteville First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 119, Graniteville, SC 29829.
