Vera McGahee New

Mrs. Vera McGahee New, 62, entered into rest on Monday August 28, 2023.

She is preceded in death by her parents Heber and Frances McGahee; brother, James McGahee; and father-in-law, James L. “Bo” New.

She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, James L. New Jr.; sons Nick New and Lewis New; brother, Howard McGahee; uncle, James R “JR” Turner; mother-in-law, Eunice New; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Vera worked with the Graniteville Company, the Helping Hands Boys Home, and DHEC. She was always helping others and advocating for handicapped children. She enjoyed “junking”, and there wasn’t a thrift store she would pass without going inside. She also enjoyed collecting and selling costume jewelry. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.

A Memorial Service, celebrating her life, will be held 2 P.M. Thursday September 7, 2023 at Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville S.C. The Family will receive friends after the Memorial Service.
