Wilbur "Buddy" Redd

Mr. Wilbur “Buddy” Redd, 88, entered into rest on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Nellie Redd; son, Kevin Redd; brother, Alonzo Redd; sisters Juanita R. Watkins, Lucille R. Enloe, and Evelyn R. McGahee.

He is survived by his former spouse and best friend, Helen Brown Redd; son, Brian “Bree” (Kim) Redd; sisters, Dorothy R. Scott, Geraldine R. McDaniel, Barbara R. Togneri; grandchildren, Dannion Redd, Bailey Redd, Brittany Poston, Drew Patterson; and great grandchildren, Sylas Patterson, Sawyer Patterson, and Sutton Poston.

Buddy was born in Vaucluse, S.C. and was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church. He retired in 1997 from Graniteville Fabrics’ maintenance millwright shop with 41 years of service. He began his career in the Vaucluse Shop in 1956. In 1991 he was promoted to the position of supervisor, which he held, with perfect attendance, until his retirement. Working with the Graniteville Company has been a tradition with Buddy’s family with both of his parents, a sister, brother, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins all working there together. Buddy was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed working and keeping up his property, of which he was extremely proud. He was also an avid fisherman, and was known for his fish fries. He never hesitated to send home food to his friends, family and those he thought were in need. He felt his mission in life was to help those in need. More than anything Buddy loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for being a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

A Funeral Service, celebrating his life, will be held at the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 1 P.M. with Rev. Carlton McDaniel and Dr. Mark Sterling to officiate. The burial will follow immediately at Vaucluse Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Pallbearers will be Dannion Redd, Drew Patterson, Terry Prothman, Andy Redd, Carlton McDaniel Jr., and Richard Redd. Honorary Pallbearers will be Stanley Redd, Don Watkins, Wyman Watkins, Phillip Togneri, Ken Redd, and James Sullivan.
