November 26, 1923 — October 25, 2022

Aiken, SC

Mrs. Willa Marie Berrie Dorr, 98, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Willa, a fraternal twin, was born on November 26, 1923 in the old Aiken Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Aiken and was proud to be called an “Aikenite”. Willa was the daughter of William Ernest Berrie and Minnie Rodella Cato Berrie. After high school, she graduated cosmetology school in Augusta, G.A. Willa worked as a beautician at Elite Beauty Shop on Laurens Street. She married John Jospeh “Jack” Dorr on June 6, 1957 at St. Mary’s Help if Christian Catholic Church where she was a longtime member. She later opened her own beauty shop “The Beauty Box” in her home before retiring. Willa had a fun loving and feisty personality, who never looked or acted her age. She was a devoted loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, making her sour cream pound cakes and Christmas candies for family and friends. She loved to read, play cards and games, banana splits, and fishing.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, John “Jack” Dorr; brother, Marvin E. Berrie; and sister-in-law, Nell D, Berrie.

She is survived by her children, John Andrew Dorr of Aiken, S.C., Patrick L. (Karen H.) Dorr of Lexington, S.C., and Caroline D. (Michael) Fulmer of Aiken; grandchildren, Jeremy Michael Fulmer and Madeidra “Mae” D. Dorr both of Aiken, S.C.; twin brother, William Paul Berrie of Aiken; sister-in-law Louise Berrie of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.
